Do metal wound gaskets belong to soft gaskets or hard gaskets? Are there any relevant specification guidelines?
The sealing part of a metal wound gasket is made of a combination of metal and non-metal materials, with inner and outer metal rings ensuring the stability of the sealing part. Wrapped gaskets are supported by metal rings; they do not have good compressibility like soft gaskets, and should theoretically be classified as hard gaskets.
Hardness and softness are merely used for communication and hold no real significance; in the industry it is referred to as a hard gasket, as it has a high gasket coefficient and specific pressure, and higher bolt torque is required for sealing.
