On September 17, the China Chemical Tianjin pilot plant made its debut at the Shanghai International Chemical Industry Exhibition in an open and innovative format, with several pilot project achievements attracting significant attention. This pilot plant facility is located in Tianjin Nangang Industrial Park, the largest cluster of chemical pilot plant facilities in China (eight such facilities are already present in the park), giving it a clear advantage in terms of an innovative ecosystem. 4 star installations are currently open. The membrane tower coupled advanced separation unit is based on technology developed by a team from Nanjing University of Technology; the pilot-scale operation party is responsible for the process design, equipment construction, and commissioning of the facility. This technology utilizes a combination of an “organic membrane system + distillation” to break the azeotropic equilibrium and enhance the separation process. This pilot-scale platform can be widely applied to the development of separation processes for various systems, such as volatile organic systems, alcohol-water mixtures, and binary organic azeotropes. A Ziegler-Natta catalyst production facility that successfully catalyzes the conversion of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene catalysts; it facilitated industrialization investments of 500 million yuan, enabling a production capacity of 20,000 tons of UHWPE, with an expected output value of 300 to 600 million yuan. This pilot-scale platform can be used for the customized production and product development of alkoxymagnesium-supported polyolefin catalysts such as LDPE, HDPE, and LLDPE. The molecular sieve facility, as part of the single-atom zinc oxide project carried out in collaboration with experts from the University of Science and Technology of China, plans to invest 400 million yuan upon successful industrialization to build a plant with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons. The expected output value is between 600 million and 1 billion yuan. This pilot platform can be widely used in the production and development of catalysts or inorganic materials via hydrothermal synthesis methods. The POE process involves advanced catalytic technologies for polyolefins; potential areas for development include the production and advancement of metallocene ligands and homogeneous metallocene catalysts. Currently, efforts are underway to promote this technology in collaboration with several domestic companies. It is reported that Sinochem (Tianjin) New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the “Sinochem Tianjin Pilot Plant”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Sinochem Research Institute, covers an area of 273 mu. The investment for the first phase amounts to 600 million yuan, with completion and operation planned by the end of 2025. Comprehensive efforts are being made to provide end-to-end support services for open pilot testing, including pilot plants, open pilot testing facilities, commissioning services, joint research and development, pilot testing design and construction, T+EPC services, T+ industry solutions, scenario innovation, market development, and equity investment. The modular and functional open pilot plants include 5 sets of pilot units for hydrogenation reactions, membrane column coupled separation, high-end resin modification, molecular sieves, and the preparation of coprecipitated catalysts.
