Carry forward the legacy for a century! The Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society began operations in TEDA. On October 16, the inauguration ceremony for Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. along with a seminar themed “A Century-Old Organization, Embarking on a New Journey” were successfully held in the Nangang Industrial Zone of Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area. Representatives from the Tianjin State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Science and Technology Bureau, the Industry and Information Technology Bureau, the Science and Technology Bureau of Binhai New Area, the Nangang Industrial Promotion Office and the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Tianjin Economic Development Zone, descendants of Dr. Hou Debang, as well as guests from universities, research institutions and enterprises attended the event. The Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society was founded in Tianjin in 1922 by Mr. Fan Xudong, known as the \"Father of China’s National Chemical Industry.\" It was China’s first chemical research institution as well as the first organization to conduct systematic research in mycology, paving the way for scientific research in the fields of chemistry and mycology in China. In promoting the development of the national chemical industry, the Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society achieved dozens of \"firsts in China\" and established an innovation system based on collaboration among industry, academia, and research institutions. It assisted companies such as Jiuda and Yongli in overcoming technical barriers, enabling the successful production of China’s first batch of basic chemical products such as soda ash, caustic soda, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid. This laid the foundation for a national chemical industry in which both acid and alkali products could develop side by side. The Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society, together with Kudai Salt Company and Yongli Alkali Plant, was known as the \"Chikyu Yellow\" group; it was the predecessor of today’s Tianjin Bohai Chemical Group Co., Ltd. To promote the Huanghai Spirit of \"unwavering determination, perseverance, dedicated commitment, and bold innovation,\" Bohua Group will establish the Tianjin Bohai Chemical Group Research Institute in the Nangang Industrial Zone, restore the name of the Huanghai Chemical Industry Research Society, and register Huanghai Chemical Industry Research Society (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. As an operational entity of Bohua Group’s Research Institute, the company will adhere to the principles of \"science first, innovation leading.\" It will oversee the key research and development areas across the group, optimize the allocation of scientific and technological resources, and focus on new energy, new products, new materials, new technologies, new markets, and new production methods. By working on core, critical, and common technologies, it will accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the chemical industry. Hou Shengzheng, the great-grandson of Dr. Hou Debang, said in his speech that the \"Permanent Yellow\" group created a miracle of simultaneous development for China’s acid and alkali industries; restoring the name of the Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society reflects Bohua Group’s respect for history and its determination to innovate. He reflected, “History is our best teacher, and our predecessors are our best role models.” ”And I wish the Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society continued to achieve new successes in chemical technology on its new journey, and to write further chapters of glory.
“After a century, the ‘Huanghai Society’ embarks on a new journey. Now, the baton of history has been passed into the hands of the new generation of ‘Huanghai members’. The Huanghai Chemical Industry Research Society will lay a solid foundation, aim for excellence, take action step by step, and make steady progress, achieving at least 5 significant results each year. It strives to recruit no less than 100 high-caliber talents by the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, and by 2030, help the group’s strategic emerging industries and future-oriented industries achieve revenue of over 20 billion yuan. ”Wu Chunlei, chairman of Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., said. A relevant official from Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area said that the Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society was once the cornerstone for China to break through technical blockades and achieve the revitalization of its domestic chemical industry. Reactivating the Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society today is a crucial step in carrying forward the spirit of innovation and responding to the call for **scientific and technological self-reliance and strength. The Economic Development Zone will work together with Bohua Group, leveraging the zone’s strengths in innovation and entrepreneurship as well as the industrial cluster in Nangang, to boost technological research and development and the transformation of research results, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of Tianjin’s chemical industry and to the goal of achieving self-reliance and strength in this sector. In the future, the Yellow Sea Chemical Industry Research Society will take on the mission entrusted to it by history. Responding to the needs of the group, the advancements in the industry, and relevant **strategies, it will develop a comprehensive platform that integrates research and development, value creation, management services, technical support, talent development, international cooperation, information sharing, and entrepreneurship support. At the same time, it will play a key role in driving disruptive technologies, leading the development of future industries, and reforming innovation systems, striving to become a world-class research institution and contributing the \"Yellow Sea strength\" to the innovative development of China’s chemical industry.
