The purpose of gas detection is to prevent poisoning; generally, detectors are placed in areas where gases are likely to accumulate, taking into account wind direction and human traffic. This is related to the relative density of the gases. Among the 7 typical toxic gases specified in China, only two are slightly lighter than air, while the rest are heavier than air. It seems better to check the steam density of the medium and make a decision based on the specifications. Normally, since the flexible hose is open, it’s obvious that the poison gas concentration there is above the safe level, and most of the people on the platform will take precautions in advance. However, the area below the platform is a place where precautions are easily overlooked. However, if the quantity is small and the company can afford the costs of regular inspections, it is of course best to have both upper and lower garments for personal safety. Instead, a few portable toxic gas detectors should be carried around to prevent unexpected situations caused by changes in wind direction, the nature of the medium, or variations in density.
