Could anyone recommend some flow meters that are good for measuring liquid ammonia? I’m not sure which flow meter to choose. Thank you
Mass flow meters are basically used for measuring the liquid ammonia flow rate in ammonia synthesis and urea production plants.

If measured, it’s quality. If the control or measurement requirements are not high, vortex flow meters and orifice plates can both be used.
Liquid ammonia can be measured using an electromagnetic flowmeter, but an electrodeless capacitive electromagnetic flowmeter must be used. Yokogawa’s CA series can meet the requirement for thermal insulation at the meter installation location, ensuring that the flow meter is not exposed to environments with extreme temperature variations.
If we’re talking about the better options, then it’s the mass flow meter.

You need to confirm whether it is a liquid; sometimes it is said to be a liquid, but in reality it often vaporizes. In the case of gasification, if the flow rate is low, such as 3 tons or less, a mass flow meter can still be used for measurement. Otherwise, there are no instruments available to measure any gas-air mixture. Even for liquids, a mass flow meter is the best choice.
Why can’t electromagnetic methods be used with liquid ammonia? Is it because of its low dielectric constant, or something else? Some desalinated water is being treated using electromagnets
Conventional electromagnetic flowmeters can measure media with a conductivity of 1 or 5 uS/cm or higher, while capacitive flowmeters can handle media with a conductivity of 0.01 uS/cm or higher. The conductivity of different desalinated waters varies. Many are above 0.1 uS/cm, so electromagnetic fields can certainly be measured. However, it is said that capacitive electromagnetic flowmeters lack the stability and accuracy of conventional electromagnetic flowmeters. If imported capacitive electromagnetic flowmeters are used, their price is also high; considering the quality, if there are no advantages, then why use them? Moreover, only a mass flow meter can measure mass, and only a mass flow meter can measure gaseous, liquid, or solid mixtures, either in part or in their entirety. For reference.
