I need the formula for compensating the temperature and pressure of superheated steam. Also, is the enthalpy of superheated steam related to its density?
For superheated steam, this formula has a relatively large error
Although superheated steam is a single-phase fluid and its density is a function of temperature and pressure, it does not obey the ideal gas law. This compensation formula is not applicable to superheated steam.
It’s simple; the superheated steam compensation formula is: M=ρ*G. M refers to the mass flow rate of the superheated steam, G is the volumetric flow rate under the given operating conditions, and ρ is the density at those conditions, which is obtained by consulting tables based on temperature and pressure… Generally, flow meters or DCS systems allow for direct input of values so that calculations can be performed using the tables, without the need for formulas. If manual calculation is desired, it is still most accurate to look up the density in a table and then perform the calculations.
Consult the table and add the superheated steam density data package. Otherwise, the ideal gas correction formula is generally used; when the pressure, temperature, and design parameters differ little, the error is essentially negligible as per the density tables.
Many so-called formulas are not as good as the ideal gas correction formula.
