Dear experts, some of the instruments on site are located quite far away from the control room – several hundred meters, even several kilometers. To save on cables and labor costs, we are considering using wireless signal transmission. I would like to ask, what are some of the better brand wireless transmission devices available on the market nowadays? Can wireless transmission be used for the signal transmission of toxic flammable gases? (Legally and regulatorily)
Wireless transmission encounters obstacles; the performance is poor when there are interruptions!
Our company has only encountered problems like yours, such as those related to toxic and flammable gas detectors. In my approach, the detectors at the site are connected to a controller located in the on-site control room through communication links. The control room uses DTU wireless terminals to transmit data over 4G networks provided by Telecom and Mobile, and then a computer in the dispatch center is used to access this information online; of course, it’s also possible to view the data via a mobile phone. The Emergency Management Bureau didn’t say much during their inspection, as there were sound and light alarms at the site, as well as in the nearby control room; the computers in the dispatch room were also equipped with sound and light alarms. I think it’s quite convenient, since our locations are quite far apart – thousands of meters away from each other – and it’s difficult to lay fiber optics in such areas.

It’s okay; we found a manufacturer that specializes in alarm devices to handle it. The cost of phone cards seems to be quite low – just a few dozen yuan per month. They rented a private cloud from Alibaba, and many manufacturers upload their data there; different permissions and accounts allow each company to access its own data. These costs are covered by the alarm manufacturer; we only need to purchase the sensor and take no further action.
