2 cubic meters methanol tank, at normal temperature and pressure. The tank is equipped with a flange, allowing the installation of a magnetic flip-level gauge. But the manager said they weren’t quite confident, so two needed to be installed. Is it necessary? If necessary, there is an opening on top of the tank; would a top-mounted magnetic flap level gauge be a suitable choice? Or would a float level gauge work?

One for local monitoring, where a magnetic flip switch can be used; one for remote monitoring, for which a guided-wave radar level gauge or a float level gauge can be chosen. After all, methanol is flammable, explosive, and toxic, so it’s better to have two sensors. It is recommended to use a radar gauge for remote monitoring, as if both sensors are of the float type, the decrease in density due to liquid expansion in high temperatures during summer could cause problems
Can a float level gauge be installed by dropping it in from the top?

The two have higher security. It is best for the two level gauges to be of different types, such as one being a magnetic flip-type gauge and the other a radar gauge.
It is recommended to install one on-site and one for remote transmission. This way, they can check each other.
For a tank with a volume of 2 cubic units, one magnetic flip valve is sufficient.
