All of E+H’s guided wave radars have a parameter called probe length Ln. If this probe length is actually reduced, for example by truncating it, does it require corresponding adjustments to be made in the radar transmitter? What effects would occur if the empty mark is a bit lower than the full mark? For example, the empty mark is 16M and the full mark is 17M
For antennas with waveguide rods or cables, if they are shortened, it is best to make a change in the configuration and enter the actual length. The cable length is the measurement range. The empty mark and the full mark should represent the range; empty is 16 and full is 17. Does that mean the range is 16–17?
The ln length is not difficult to modify; the full scale corresponds to the maximum range, while the zero scale represents the full scale plus the dead zone. The value of ln can be greater than (full scale + dead zone), meaning that the zero level can be located in the middle of the guided wave tube. Please read the instructions carefully. Guiding waves tubes are generally used in horizontal tubes.

As long as ln is greater than 17, there’s no problem; the maximum distance is 17 meters below the flange

LN refers to the length of the probe; if it has a rod, that rod can be removed, and the parameters need to be adjusted accordingly. The one we purchased was 12 meters long, and after removing the rod its length becomes around 6 meters. It has been in use for a year now, but it often gives inaccurate readings when not in use
