The operating range indicated on the PT-100 thermistor is -100~100℃; generally, thermistors are not suitable for use in the range of -200~800℃. What does this operating range of -100~100℃ mean?
Not all PT100 temperature sensors can withstand temperatures ranging from -200 to 800°C; many of them clearly cannot operate within this range. . . For PT100 as an industrial finished product, factors such as the packaging material, packaging structure, and the allowable temperature resistance also need to be considered. . .
This shows that very little platinum from the PT100 is being used. The reason is simple: a 0.1mm copper wire breaks as soon as it’s exposed to heat from a lighter, whereas a 1.5mm copper wire cannot be broken in that way.
Mm-hmm, and there are also differences in the leads: there are those made of copper, nickel, gold-plated, or platinum-plated. Their length also affects the price and precision.
Everything said upstairs is absolutely correct. The effective temperature-sensing element of a PT100 is a small amount of high-purity platinum, while other components such as leads, fillers, enclosures, and protective tubes have varying temperature tolerance ranges. Additionally, according to unreliable sources, more than a hundred PT100 thermometric platinums would be needed, and those would have to be extracted in order to craft a platinum ring……
It probably refers to the factory-set range on the transmitter or display……
