Here are several common methods for calibrating weighing modules: 1. Weight calibration – Using weights for calibration is the most reliable method. For ease of calibration, the container must be equipped with earhooks for hanging weights. The calibration process is as follows: First, make the container empty and adjust the instrument reading to zero. Check each module to ensure it is working properly. Hang weights near each module in turn and read the readings to confirm that the readings displayed by the instrument are the same each time. Return to the no-load condition, gradually increase the weight until it reaches half of the full scale, read the instrument reading, then increase the weight to the full scale and read the instrument reading again. If the material needs to be weighed both when entering and leaving, reduce the weights when the container is full, and take readings from the instrument at half of the full scale range and when it is empty. 2. Combined calibration For many large weighing containers, it is not possible to perform calibration using weights alone; in such cases, a combination of weights and a substitute (water) can be used for calibration. The calibration process is as follows: After reading the value when the container is unloaded, a certain weight is added to the container and its weight is then measured. Remove the weights and add substitutes until the reading displayed on the instrument is equal to the weight of the weights just added. The substitute remains in the container, and the weight is measured by adding weights. Repeat the above steps until the weight of the substitute reaches the full load weight. 3. Calibration with substitutes When calibration using weights is not possible, substitutes can be used for calibration. First, weigh the substitute (such as water) on another scale, then place the substitute into the weighing container that needs to be calibrated. This calibration method relies on the accuracy of the scale used to weigh the substitute and the losses that occur when transferring the substitute into the container; therefore, it can only be used as a roughly approximate method.
