Choosing a vortex flow meter for this purpose is a bit excessive; generally, an orifice plate is sufficient. If you insist on using a vortex flow meter, it’s enough to determine the pipe diameter, as well as the operating temperature and pressure. Once the diameter is known, the maximum measurement range is also determined
If the pipe diameter is 273*7, the pressure is 0~1.0 Mpa, and the temperature is 0~45, can the maximum range be determined? A lot? There is another issue: the manufacturer provides products with a reduced diameter. I wonder what the basis for this is?
You can check in E+H’s selection manual to find out what flow rate is achievable for that diameter. If your process flow rate falls within this maximum range, then it should be clear, right?
The price has nothing to do with the range; it is determined only by factors such as the pipe diameter and the material of the flow meter. Vortex flow meters have a specific range of flow velocities for the medium; when manufacturers recommend a reduced-diameter version, it is with the pipe flow velocity in mind. If you choose to reduce the diameter, it’s better to opt for a flow meter of one size smaller and adjust the diameter of your pipeline yourself to save costs.
If you lack experience in selecting the appropriate options, it’s better to leave the process parameters to the manufacturer for calculation; The reduction in diameter is due to flow velocity issues; you can choose an appropriate diameter from the three settings available in the calculation sheet (the ones that allow for proper measurements), and it is recommended not to reduce the diameter too much.
