RT: Is it reasonable to use the value after temperature and pressure compensation for control interlocks, or is it better to use the value before such compensation?
It depends on the situation, but the value after temperature and pressure compensation is closer to the actual value. The process should be based on this compensated value, and interlock functions should also be determined using this compensated value
The purpose of temperature and pressure compensation is to obtain accurate flow values; if control and interlock systems use flow values as indicators, it is reasonable to use the compensated values.
The flow rate after temperature and pressure compensation can be the flow rate under standard conditions or the flow rate under design conditions. It shows whether the flow rate is after compensation or before compensation on the system screen; it’s better to display whichever one it is. This way, it’s easier for operators to carry out operations and make judgments based on what’s shown on the screen
Control interlocking is used to ensure stability and safety under operating conditions; it reflects the status of those conditions before temperature and pressure compensation takes place, so it is reasonable for the parameters available prior to such compensation to be used in the control interlocking.

The goal is clear now, so why ask? If the goal isn’t clear, what’s the point of chaining anything together? Just shut down the equipment, leave work and go home to be with my wife – forget about it.
Each case must be analyzed on its own merits. If the interlock value requirements are not high and the value before compensation already meets the interlock requirements, it is recommended to proceed without compensation. The compensated values are affected by multiple parameters, resulting in reduced reliability.
Participation in interlocking should also be based on the compensated value, as the value after compensation is more accurate
The value before temperature and pressure compensation is used appropriately for control, and issues with temperature or pressure do not affect interlocks.
