Is it easy to change a on-off ball valve from air-operated to air-actuated shut (or from air-actuated shut to on-operated)? How to do it?
This requires making adjustments to the diaphragm head; in some cases, simply reversing the installation of the inner membrane and the spring baffle is sufficient, while in other cases it’s necessary to replace the diaphragm head. Take it apart and you’ll see.

Turn the valve stem 90 degrees. It is recommended to have the valve serviced after purchase; making modifications on one’s own may affect the sealing performance
Personal opinion: By separating the actuator and rotating the valve core 90 degrees before reconnecting it (in other words, manually setting it from the closed position to the open position and then reconnecting it to the actuator), a switch from combined operation to separate operation can be achieved. The same is true in reverse.

It’s best to have the manufacturer make the changes. Once, for a project, I ordered the wrong type of valves – ones that operated on air pressure; I ended up buying valves that operated on hydraulic pressure instead. Fortunately, it was possible to fix the issue by reversing the orientation of the coil, and those were pneumatic ball valves.

If it’s a single-acting cylinder, it’s easy to fix: remove the cylinder, turn the valve shaft 90 degrees, and then reinstall it.
Change the valve from gas-open to gas-close by first disconnecting the cylinder from the valve stem, and then rotating the valve stem 90 degrees using a wrench. Finally, connect the cylinder to the valve stem. That’s it; the modification is complete.
