For the first installation, a Coriolis flowmeter is being used. If you don’t know how to choose the installation location or the wiring method, those who have done this installation before or those who know the answer could please share their insights; pay attention to the details! (The instructions are too brief; it’s still not clear after reading them.) :)
Don’t manufacturers provide installation instructions? There’s usually a call: diagram on the back cover of the wiring box
Does yours come with instructions? Some models of mass flow meters from Coriolis can be used regardless of the orientation in which they are installed; they can be placed in the system in either direction. It’s best to install them in a vertical tank in an upward flow direction, or in a downward flow direction
The model ordered by our company is the OPTIMASS 1400. The instructions provided are not detailed enough; they do not give sufficient information regarding the installation location, such as the distance between the flow meter and other components, or what to do in cases where the span is too large. We called for assistance and were told to use “-” for input and “+” for output, and that no zero-point calibration is required. Since we have chosen a mass flow meter, we still require precision, and we want to minimize errors in the selection of the installation location
In previous projects, Kolon recommended vertical installation, with the liquid flow direction from bottom to top
There is no requirement for the front-to-back distance; there should be no change in diameter, from bottom to top
Precautions for installation and use: 1. Mass flow meters cannot be used when the medium tends to crystallize. 2. There should be no bubbles in the medium as it passes through the flow meter; that is, there must not be a gas-liquid mixture, otherwise the mass flow meter will give an alarm and will not function properly. This is also one of the criteria for selecting a mass flow meter. In some situations, a mass flow meter is necessary, and if the medium tends to vaporize and form bubbles, measures such as installing a cooler upstream of the flow meter can be taken to ensure that there are no bubbles as the medium flows through it. It is also important to ensure sufficient straight sections of pipe before and after the flow meter for this reason. 3. When installing a mass flow meter, the pipes before and after the meter must be supported; during installation, it is also necessary to ensure that the meter body does not experience any torsional forces, otherwise the meter will give an alarm or provide inaccurate readings.
I’m sorry; I’ve been busy for a while. The mass flow meter from Coriolis has been installed and the wires are connected. It turns out that there is no requirement for the distance before and after 1 for mass flow meters. No cascaded debugging has been carried out yet; the dot-point part is completed. It’s a four-wire system, with two wires supplying 24V power, providing independent power supply. If you choose a 4–20mA output for connection to a DCS, it depends on the output wiring configuration you select: A, A+, A–. I chose A and A–; these represent passive signals, while A and A+ represent active signals
Is it a straight pipe or a curved pipe? Flag-style installation is recommended as it is the safest option. Mass flow meters do not require a straight pipe section.
Bubbles don’t matter; I’d like to learn about Cologne’s EGM (air content measurement) technology. Cologne’s mass flow meters can measure media with an air content ranging from 0-100%;
