I consulted the experts at the design institute last night… For tank areas, especially spherical tank areas, the instruments use a 3-out-of-2+1 (DCS) configuration, and no specific maintenance plan is required.
The instruments in the oil storage area that I was responsible for maintaining required regular calibration, and the scales in the measurement system needed periodic verification. The control system did not require major repairs; any issues that arose were fixed as they came up. After all, the storage area continued to be in use during major repairs. The instruments in the liquefied gas storage area were calibrated whenever conditions permitted, and even though the system used a three-out-of-two voting mechanism, the typical calibration interval was one year
