I’m just starting to work with SCADA; the company didn’t provide any guidance on this system before. Is there anyone who can explain it to me?

It can communicate with on-site PCs via RS485, transmit data over Ethernet directly to higher-level PCs or SCADA systems through the network port, and it can also use GPRS for transmission – as long as the communication protocols are compatible. The above is the general direction; I’m not in the communications field either, so I’m not familiar with the specific details. Our company operates in this way: usually, the manufacturers handle the production of these devices, while tasks such as routine maintenance, inspection, testing, and replenishment are carried out by our instrumentation team in collaboration with the computer specialists. The instrumentation team is responsible only for connecting the communication lines of the instruments on site, and sometimes helps with wiring; all other tasks are handled by the computer specialists.
If understood in this way, then either RS485 or Ethernet can be used; the company’s IT department is only responsible for maintaining those servers, as well as the company’s computers and OA systems

Those in the IT field are more professional in communication matters than we people who work with instruments; we leave all such tasks to them. Server maintenance, as well as computer and OA systems, are all handled by them ; Actually, we have more work related to instruments – things like natural gas metering (including data analysis, error analysis and control, calibration, maintenance, etc.), as well as ordinary measuring and control instruments. Self-acting pressure regulators also fall under our responsibilities; we’re simply too busy to handle everything, so we leave the communication-related tasks to the IT staff.
The flow meters used for company trading do not need to be calibrated by the company itself; none of the other equipment requires calibration, except for pressure vessels, as well as the pressure gauges attached to them, which must undergo mandatory calibration. The IT team doesn’t care about the systems either; they don’t know as well as the SCADA operators what’s inside those systems
Trade flow meters need to be sent for inspection, communication with the user is also required, and the meters have to be disassembled and reassembled as well; Our instrument can only provide a basic understanding of the SCADA system; it’s not capable of handling things like the actual system configuration.
