The device is equipped with an orifice flow meter; if the medium flows in reverse, will the flow meter still indicate a flow rate? Please share your thoughts, thank you
This issue should be divided into two parts; the first is related to the flow orifice plate. If there is a pressure difference on both sides, then fluid flow actually occurs. As for the flow direction, it relates to the installation orientation of the orifice plate; otherwise, the resulting pressure difference will vary depending on the direction. Secondly, as for what kind of measuring instrument to use, I won’t go into details; a relatively simple \"U\"-shaped tube will suffice to explain your problem. You might as well give it a try.
In the case of backflow, the transmitter will display a negative differential pressure value. However, there is usually a minimum limit for this negative value, at -2.5 kPa (this is the case for Rosemount and Yokogawa transmitters in general). Generally, the flow rate displayed on a DCS should be 0. If the DCS is a newer version (the 700 system from Zhongkong), an ERR error message will be displayed
It generally isn’t displayed; the pressure transmitter shows a positive value. If there are two pressure transmitters, it is possible to display the flow in the reverse direction as well. Some type of orifice flow meter can indicate flow in both forward and reverse directions
