Understand the process flows of the equipment commonly handled by this design institute, as every design institute has strengths in certain areas of technology ； 4. Be familiar with information on mainstream field instruments, control systems, and analysis instruments; find the manufacturers’ websites as well as various manuals and documents ； 5. Books on instrument operation management and maintenance, such as: Manual for Instrumentation and Operation Management in Petroleum and Chemical Enterprises, Technician’s Manual for Instruments (2nd edition), Manual for Online Analytical Instruments, etc ； 6. Learn from masters and experts, discuss with the project owner; most importantly, go to the site to learn from the actual project, the overall design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and the entire process of project initiation.
