Regarding DCS/SIS AI card channel issues

Different manufacturers offer AI cards with varying numbers of channels: 8-channel, 16-channel, and 32-channel cards. Some technical specifications require that the number of channels on an AI card not exceed 16. What are everyone’s thoughts on this?
This post was last edited by budaoweng123 on 2020-3-4 at 17:26. The mainstream DCS systems these days are 16-channel. There are very few SIS models, so you really have no choice. For example, TRICON and Zhongkong offer models with only 32 channels; ICS seems to have only 20 channels, while HIMA provides models with just 8 channels.
If too many faulty channels appear on a single card and it needs to be replaced, it is obvious that replacing a 16-channel card is more cost-effective than replacing a 32-channel one; moreover, this reduces the impact on the normal use of the channels. As for whether there is also a consideration of risk dispersion, that is unclear
There’s no choice really; I think 16 points is a more appropriate option. SIS is used for emergency shutdown of critical control points, and it doesn’t have as many functions as DCS, but currently 32 points seems to be the standard.
Most AI systems come in 8-channel or 16-channel configurations; reliable DCS systems are 16-channel, while SIS systems are 8-channel, which better suits their respective application scenarios.
