In the DeltaV control system, system configuration typically involves creating databases, configuring workstations, controller nodes and control networks as well as user accounts, configuring input/output modules, and creating process flow diagrams. Once the physical hardware is connected, and after various configuration details are uploaded to the controller and workstations, the entire DeltaV control system can be put into use in the production process. During normal production operations, process operators control the entire plant through the system operation interface. The system operation screen is structurally divided into two parts: the system title window and the main window. (2) The system’s main window is located below the title window; upon startup, a view of the entire plant area is displayed first in this main window. Through the overview screen, the operation screen for the corresponding section can be brought up, allowing process engineers to monitor and control that section in real time. At the bottom of the system’s main window, there are six functional buttons: screen directory, overall information, historical query, event query, report printing, and system maintenance. During the production process, process operators can perform corresponding operations using these six function buttons. For example, by clicking the historical query button, the screen for viewing past queries can be brought up; through the historical record curves of the relevant process parameters, process engineers can conduct in-depth and detailed analysis of these curves. Using the software tool provided by DeltaV for processing historical curve data, it is possible to investigate and analyze the causes of system failures and process accidents ； By analyzing the parameter curves, it is possible to evaluate the production conditions over a certain period, thereby providing data for the production and scientific management of the process. For another example, clicking the system event query button will display a list of system events, allowing users to find out about the significant events that occurred in the system over a certain period of time. Our DCS is this very system; historical data curves are generally retained for about 2 years. Data older than two years requires retrieval from the engineer station, as operators do not have this permission. This system performs regular backups; the volume of data is so large that the system slows down.
