Dear experts: Is it permissible to install stop valves before and after the emergency shut-off valve? Are there any relevant specifications?
You can add it. Why can’t it be added? The emergency shut-off valve is a safety requirement, not an operational requirement. If your operation requires a stop valve, then of course it’s possible to use one. It’s just a question of whether it’s necessary. An emergency shut-off valve does not require an additional stop valve.
Normative requirements stem from principles; as long as the principles hold true, it is possible to meet the norms. Additionally, your question should be about finding chemical engineering design codes or safety standards. Switch valves serve various purposes; for example, in a switching system consisting of a dozen or so such valves, automatic programming is used for control, and aside from the pressure equalization valve, no other shut-off valves are installed. For example, in the case of gas usage, one needs to be installed in front of the valve; there is no point in installing it behind the valve. Everything needs to be configured according to the process requirements.
Personally, I don’t think it’s a matter of spending money; when it’s not possible to operate it, this valve is still very necessary!
If the emergency shut-off valve needs to be serviced during production, what should be done since there are no stop valves at either the front or back?
