Everything here is non-international standard. For example, the national standard M20*1.5 means that the diameter is 20 MM and the thread pitch is 1.5 mm. But what does 1/2 inch, or 1/2 inch NPT, mean?
M20X1.5 is a metric thread, while 1/2 inch and NPT are imperial pipe threads; threads of different standards cannot be used together.
Yes, the national standards are understandable – there are specifications for both the diameter and the spacing between screws. But I can’t understand the British or American standards; for example, does 1/2 inch refer to the diameter or something else?

The standards cannot be neglected, and the accompanying accessories must also be provided accordingly
G1/2 and 1/2 NPT are not the same; for more detailed information, you can refer to the ”Metric, Imperial, and British Thread Standards Manual”.

NPT is the American standard for threaded connections; by checking the relevant standards, one can find the exact dimensions. 1/2 is merely a nominal value, and the actual dimension is different from it
