I want to purchase a meter with 485 communication capabilities (a steam flow meter that includes measurements for pressure, flow rate, and temperature), in order to connect its signals to a DCS system. What information do I need from the meter manufacturer when making this purchase?
It is generally specified that an RS485 communication interface is required, with the standard Modbus RTU protocol being sufficient; usually a two-wire system is used
Is it necessary for the manufacturer to provide information such as the mailing address?
The communication address and baud rate, as well as the parity check, can be set by the manufacturer; generally, these are set by default at the time of manufacturing, but they need to be reset if necessary
