There is a magnetic flap level gauge on site that was working normally before; recently, both the remote and local readings have suddenly stayed above 200. Upon inspection, the float wasn’t stuck nor contaminated, and its magnetism was also normal. Are there any other possible causes for this phenomenon?
I communicated with the level gauge manufacturers, and they provided many case studies!

Show everyone the previous picture. Generally, magnetic flap indicators are very reliable. Could there be some magnetic object interfering with the indication, or is it because the liquid freezes in cold weather and can no longer conduct signals outward?
It’s impossible; is there too much rust on the float?
Is it possible that the float is damaged and media has entered it? P
It’s possible that, as mentioned above, fluid has entered the float, which is why it can no longer float; P. Otherwise, maybe the density of the process medium has changed?
1. The remote and local readings remain at 200. If the remote reading is the same as the local reading, it indicates that the signal is fine and the reed switch is not damaged. Open the flange below the magnetic flip switch and check the float or the passage inside the tube; it’s possible that the float has been stuck by the medium. 2. Remove the float, rinse it with hot water, then use a wooden stick or 8#/10# iron wire (it must be stiff) to tie a rag around, and move it back and forth inside the float to check for any stuck areas ; 3. Take out the magnetic float, dry it, and shake it to check if any medium has seeped in ; 4. I’m not sure how you conducted the testing. It’s possible that, although you think the magnetism of the float is still normal, the float itself may not agree with that.;P Demagnetization of floats is quite common.
