Our office uses non-twisted pair for communication, and it works very well. The length is 60-70 meters.
It might work fine in practice, but once interference occurs it’s difficult to identify the issue, which will cause a lot of trouble later on

Sure, 150 meters is fine for me as well
I used an instrument signal cable of less than 100 meters (also twisted pair, but with a looser twist) to replace the 485 communication cable; the communication speed was very slow. I checked the communication settings at both ends and found no issues, but I was unable to identify the cause. I’m not sure if this cable is the problem. To avoid such ambiguous issues, it is better to use communication cables in accordance with standard requirements; twisted pairs are tightly twisted, which gives them strong interference resistance.
I’ve used it; there’s no problem. In the cable trench, pay attention to arranging them in separate layers from the power cables.
No problem, I’ve used it; it’s just not that long.:)

The smaller the twist length of the twisted pair, the greater its resistance to interference, but at the same time the signal bandwidth decreases. In situations where twisted pair cables are generally required, the signals are adjusted to take advantage of the characteristics of those cables ; Using ordinary cables in place of twisted pairs may lead to interference or communication delays. Replacing twisted pair with a regular cable is usually feasible. But once it stops working, it can be quite troublesome. If the quantity is small, it’s also fine to wait and replace it once there’s a problem.
