I. Overview of the External Mounting Level Gauge The external mounting level gauge is a new type of level measurement device independently developed by Dinghua Electronics. It breaks away from traditional level measurement methods, allowing for continuous level measurement outside the tank. No drilling is required in the tank, and installation and maintenance can be carried out without interrupting operations. Moreover, through technical improvements, it reduces the measurement blind zone (which can be reduced to 10 cm) and improves measurement accuracy – features that are unattainable by similar products on the market. External-mounted level gauges are suitable for measuring the level of various toxic substances, strong acids, strong bases, and various pure liquids in sealed containers. These gauges feature an explosion-proof design, allowing them to be used in environments where explosion protection is required; they are particularly ideal for upgrading older models! II. Working Principle of the External Mounting Level Gauge The external mounting level gauge utilizes the echo ranging principle of ultrasound, combined with digital signal processing technology. With our company’s proprietary ultrasound processing technology as the core of the system, it enables ultra-fast digital signal processing. The influence of the tank wall has been overcome, resulting in accurate liquid level readings after processing by the instrument; no further analysis, comparison, or judgment by the CPU is required. In addition, the instrument can output a 4–20mA standard signal, and the measurement results can also be sent to a host computer (or secondary meter) via RS-485 or Hart interfaces. III. Product features of external-mounted level gauges ● High measurement accuracy and sensitive response of the instrument ● Easy to install and maintain; operation can continue without shutting down the tank ● Wide range of applications: suitable for measuring various liquid media in environments with highly toxic, highly corrosive substances, high pressures, complex operating conditions, as well as explosive gases ● The instrument has a self-calibration function ● No maintenance is required by the user; it is maintenance-free ● No regular calibration is needed; it operates reliably, with stable performance and a long service life ● Intelligent, electronic design ● Strong resistance to interference IV. Application conditions for external-mounted level gauges Medium requirements: The viscosity of the liquid to be measured should be ≤30 MP·s, and there should be no sediments or obstructions inside the tank. Material of the container to be measured: Suitable for measuring all types of dense materials such as metals, non-metals, and rigid plastics. Wall thickness that can be measured: Up to 100 mm. V. Installation requirements for external-mounted level gauges: ● For iron containers, it is possible to apply silicone grease to the working surface of the probe and attach it directly to the bottom of the container using a magnetic cup ; If the container shell is made of glass or other materials, the probe can be fixed to the bottom of the container using glue or brackets. The probe must be aligned in the same line as the distance being measured ; For large vertical tanks with foundations, in the absence of an environment suitable for external mounting, an insertion installation method can be used, whereby the probe is placed directly at the bottom of the tank. To prevent the probe from being carried away by the fluid inside the tank, a shaft can be installed inside the tank to secure the probe, or the probe can be fixed to the bottom of the tank using steel cables. ● There are no obstructions such as coils directly above the probe ; ● Stay away from the liquid inlet at the bottom of the tank to avoid the impact of intense liquid flow on the measurements ; ● Stay away from the area below the liquid inlet at the top of the tank, to avoid severe fluctuations in the liquid level caused by the impact of the incoming liquid, which could affect the measurements.
