Electric on-off valves are usually denoted by the letter code “E”, while pneumatic on-off valves are generally denoted by the letter code “P”. .

Reference can be made to the HG/T 20505 2014 standard. Valve tag numbers fall into two categories: valves in the Basic Process Control System (BPCS) and valves in the Safety Instrumented System (SIS). Isolation valves in basic process control systems are denoted by XV (the letter X is not defined in the HG/T 20505 2014 standard, but it is used in industry practices to indicate emergency isolation); isolation valves in safety instrumented systems are denoted by XZV, where the letter Z serves as a modifier indicating that it refers to a variable within the SIS system. In SV, the S stands for speed and frequency; it refers to a valve that controls speed or rate. As an adjective, S denotes safety, but it cannot appear alone in the first position ; In HZ, H stands for manual (remote) control, while Z serves as a modifier indicating a variable of the safety instrument system; if it is not used as a modifier, it denotes position or an actuator ; In HS, H stands for manual (remote control), while S stands for interlock, indicating that a manual command is sent to an interlock switch ; In MV, the M stands for humidity and moisture content; it refers to the valves used to control humidity and moisture content. In the industry, MV also denotes the output of a controller (the control variable).
Tag number, a tag number refers to a position identifier. Theoretically, it has nothing to do with the electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic operation of the valve.
A tag is not a position number; it is an identifier! !
