As the title suggests, there is no suitable instrument available for measuring the water level in the sediment tank; a top-mounted installation option cannot be used either.
It is recommended to choose a float-type level gauge. Sedimentated water has a significant impact on density due to the proportion of sediment it contains; therefore, level gauges related to density do not function properly in such conditions ； The sedimentated water, due to the deposition of sediment, causes both the bypass pipe and the level gauge used to measure the level at the bottom to stop working properly ； .
Servo, radar, laser, steel strip
Radar would work, or a servo one as well; it’s just a bit expensive

Since top-mounted options are not considered, then use a float ball and a float pulley
Could the float get clogged with sediment, resulting in inaccurate readings?
As long as the float can stay on the surface of the liquid, it can be used for measurement； The key is that the movable part cannot dry out once it gets covered with sediment.
