For this pressure tapping method in the installation manual, is it to make holes in two flanges for taking pressure readings? It would be better to have photos of the on-site installation
This is called flange pressure tapping; the flange is a special type of flange (thicker) provided by the instrument manufacturer, not an ordinary flange with holes drilled in it
There are four types of pressure tapping for orifice plates: pipe tapping, flange tapping, corner tapping, and annular chamber tapping. (The standard statement is: three types, namely D and D/2, flange, or corner pressure taps.) Pressure tapping at the ring chamber is equivalent to corner tapping; each method of pressure tapping has its own advantages and disadvantages in terms of installation and use, though the differences are not significant. Flange drilling may be for pressure tapping on the flange, or it could actually be for corner tapping (the two are easily confused as both involve drilling holes in the flange). Pressure is taken from the flange, and that’s how the finished orifice plate is formed
This is flange-type pressure tapping; the manufacturer supplies it as a complete set when selling orifice plate flow meters. There is a short pipe provided on the flange, and during installation, the pressure tapping pipe simply needs to be connected to the transmitter, as shown in the diagram
