Sludge water (with a solid content of about 15%) is suitable for use with electromagnetic flowmeters or turbine flowmeters. Both types of flowmeters can handle the measurement of liquid flow containing solid particles quite well. Electromagnetic flowmeters are particularly suitable for measuring wastewater containing large solid particles, as they have no moving parts and are less prone to clogging by debris. .

Sludge-containing water is generally transported through pipes; this medium is similar to water and usually has good electrical conductivity. It is recommended to use electromagnetic flowmeters or external clamp-type ultrasonic flowmeters. It is not recommended to use the turbine flowmeter mentioned by Haiyou from the 3rd floor. Since turbine flowmeters have mechanical moving parts inside the pipeline, the suspended solids in sewage can attach to or even get stuck on these parts, which not only leads to measurement errors but can also damage the turbine flowmeter.
