How to set the shutdown button for the emergency shut-off valve

I have 3 DCS emergency shut-off valves in my tank area. Do I need to install 3 shutdown buttons, and what do these buttons look like? Is it the same as an emergency stop? Is the signal connected in series with the solenoid valve circuit or sent as a DI to the DCS system?
