The high-frequency radar level gauge features an integrated design, has no moving parts, suffers no mechanical wear, and boasts a long service life. The electromagnetic waves emitted during measurement can penetrate vacuum directly without any transmission medium, and are not affected by the atmosphere, vapor, or volatile mist inside the tank. This gauge is suitable for measuring the level of volatile substances such as crude benzene, as well as for monitoring the level of almost all liquids. Thanks to its excellent technical performance, high-frequency radar level gauges are gradually expanding their market presence. From the outset of its introduction to the market, it quickly became the mainstream instrument for monitoring liquid level processes in tank areas over the past decade, thanks to its high measurement accuracy, excellent resistance to high temperatures and pressures, and the ease of installation resulting from its contactless measurement method. It is widely used in industrial production and constitutes an essential measuring device. During routine maintenance, the following aspects need to be given special attention for high-frequency radar level gauges: 1. Grounding protection: To prevent electrical component damage caused by leakage currents and to avoid interference with normal signal transmission, reliable grounding should be established at either the radar gauge itself or at the signal interface in the control room cabinet. 2. Interference signal troubleshooting: When the liquid level experiences sharp fluctuations in a short period of time, it is necessary to promptly identify the cause and resolve the fault. If there are obstacles below the antenna, it may cause the signal to weaken and lead to measurement errors. For asphalt or highly volatile media, the antenna should be cleaned regularly. 3. Wiring port sealing: The on-site wiring terminals must be strictly sealed and isolated to prevent liquids from entering the instrument, thereby avoiding power short circuits as well as corrosion of the wiring terminals and circuit boards. 4. Instant overvoltage protection: Although the radar level gauge itself supports this protection function, it should be installed away from areas prone to lightning strikes, or external lightning protection measures should be taken.
