The issue of selecting fuel gas for heating during the commissioning of coal-water slurry gasification: Firstly, there is no piped natural gas at the project site. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using CNG, LNG/LPG, and purified gas respectively?
My idea is to recommend choosing options that can provide a continuous supply of heat at high levels. However, if driving is involved during operation, then purified gas could be considered; although its heat output isn’t very high, its price is low
Has anyone built an LNG tank farm?
Both LNG and LPG can be used, but whichever is chosen, corresponding supporting facilities need to be built, as these materials are not only used for gasification but also for maintaining the flare lights; if desulfurization is carried out using the Claus process, they are also required. Whether it is LNG or LPG, a comprehensive consideration of procurement, transportation, and costs should be taken into account; the option that is easier to procure and transport with lower overall costs should be chosen. In gasification furnaces, LNG or LPG is used only during the initial startup phase; once the furnace is operating properly, vent gas can be used instead for heating other furnaces that require such treatment. Vent gas has a high calorific value, which is sufficient to meet the heat requirements for furnace heating, thereby allowing for significant savings in the use of other fuels.
