The CO2 reaction activity of the semi-coke obtained from the raw coal, as measured at 1000 degrees, is 42%. When this coal is used in fluidized bed gasification, the patent holder claims that this reaction activity has no impact on the gasification efficiency, on the grounds that the reaction temperature is above 1000 degrees and the gasification furnace operates under high pressure. I would like to know whether there is a discrepancy between this theory and reality?
The temperature in the fluidized bed is around 1300–1400 degrees, and the particles are still very small; they are not governed by dynamics but rather by mass transfer. What the patent holder said is also correct.
