For the acid production process in coking plants, what is the approximate cost of producing one ton of acid? Generally, is the acid production process profitable or loss-making? If sulfur is used alone to produce sulfuric acid, why do so many plants operate at a loss?

What about producing sulfuric acid from sulfur alone? Given its similarity to acid production plants, can this achieve break-even?
The main focus is on addressing the issue of discharging desulfurization wastewater; it is originally an environmental protection project. Currently, the cost of one ton of sulfuric acid arriving at the plant is 190 yuan, while the cost of producing one ton of sulfuric acid in such acid production projects is over 300 yuan. However, replacing the catalyst from complexed iron with PDs will help reduce the overall cost
The value of the sulfuric acid produced is not as high as the interest on the investment
There are only a few methods available for treating desulfurization waste liquids at present； Salt production – basically unsellable ； Return coal, circulated within the coking system ； Acid production is at least a viable option; although it generates no profit, it helps address environmental issues. Acid production is further divided into slurry feeding and dry powder feeding. The sulfur you mentioned is essentially dry powder feed, but its economic efficiency is still relatively low.
