Recently, the world’s first R-GAS gasifier (a compact gasifier) was successfully ignited, marking a new era of clean and efficient utilization of low-quality coal. 　　This device was developed by the Chemical Research Institute, with Yangmei Chemical Machinery being responsible for its actual production. The R-GAS gasification furnace will help reduce the cost of coal used for gasification, enhance the competitiveness of the coal chemical industry, and provide a new approach for the environmentally sustainable and efficient utilization and conversion of various coal resources. At the same time, fundamentally solving the problem of direct gasification of high-ash, low-quality coal in Shanxi Province and across the country is of great significance for the clean and efficient utilization of such coal as well as for improving resource utilization rates. It will play a positive role in promoting the development of China’s coal gasification industry. 　　It is reported that this facility utilizes compact coal gasification by pressure, using low-quality coal with high ash content, high ash melting point, high sulfur content, and low activity as raw material, with a capacity of 800 tons of coal per day. Calculations show that the cost of syngas can be reduced by approximately 0.2 yuan per standard cubic meter, the cost of synthetic ammonia can be reduced by about 420 yuan per ton, and the production cost of urea can be reduced by around 246 yuan per ton. Once in operation, the costs of raw materials used in the production of synthetic ammonia, urea, methanol, and similar products are expected to be reduced by half.
