At 14:08 on May 25, 2021, the first feeding of the multi-nozzle gasifier was successfully completed as part of Yichang Xingxing Lan Tian Technology Company’s coal gasification energy-saving technology upgrade project. The gasification energy-saving technology upgrade project of Yichang Xingxing Lan Tian Technology Company is derived from the gasification energy-saving technology upgrade project of Hubei Chuxing Chemical Industry; it is a project that combines renovation work with new construction. The total investment for the project is 2,386,180,000 RMB. During the environmental impact assessment announcement in May 2016 for the original Hubei Chuxing Chemical Gasification Energy-Saving Technology Upgrade Project, the capacity was specified as 330,000 tons per year of synthetic ammonia. After the investor was changed to Yichang Xingxing Lan Tian Technology, the capacity for synthetic ammonia production increased to 400,000 tons per year; the location of construction remained unchanged, still within the site of the original Chuxing Chemicals upgrading project. The process route adopted for the energy-saving technology upgrade of Yichang Xingxing Lan Tian coal gasification is multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification (1 in operation and 1 as backup, with a gasifier inner diameter of 3400 mm and a design pressure of 6.5 MPa), supplemented by controlled heat transfer shift reaction, low-temperature methanol washing, liquid nitrogen washing for purification, and the Cassali ammonia synthesis technology. Since the multi-nozzle gasification technology utilizes two separate feeding systems, it **reduces the risk of a complete shutdown of the entire furnace due to failures in the feeding systems, thereby ensuring system stability and reliability. As a result, the design approach that involves one active system and one standby system has been accepted by users. To date, there are 18 projects among those using this multi-nozzle technology that adopt this configuration, accounting for 30% of all licensed contracts. This approach also provides an excellent solution for facilities with smaller scales that are undergoing conversions to fixed-bed systems.
