On November 26, the kick-off meeting for the research and demonstration project on coal slurry concentration for Yuenenghua’s Methanol Line 1 gasification was held in Xi’an; relevant leaders and technical personnel from Yuenenghua Company, the Northwest Institute of Chemical Technology, and Xi’an Yanding Engineering Design Co., Ltd. attended the meeting. The holding of this kick-off meeting marks the entry of the \"Slurry Concentration Project\" into accelerated progress, and it also lays a foundation for the rapid implementation of the group’s technological projects. Zhao Yongquan, the deputy chief engineer of Yulin Energy Chemical Company, put forward six requirements for the Northwest Research Institute: First, it is necessary to leverage the advantages of EPC turnkey contracting to oversee the entire project construction process and ensure that the detailed design is completed by the end of December ; Secondly, the projects relying on Unicom need to be completed during Yueneng Chemical’s major maintenance in 2022 ; Thirdly, as stipulated in the contract, the project is to be delivered on September 15; therefore, the Northwest Research Institute needs to ensure that the grinders arrive by the end of May 2022 ; Fourth, the Northwest Institute must ensure that the procurement of major equipment and materials is completed before the Spring Festival, and efforts should be made to conduct centralized reviews and negotiations regarding the relevant technical specifications ; Fifth, the project weekly and monthly reports from the Northwest Branch must be submitted to the project team on time ; Sixth, the Northwest Institute shall submit a shortlist of construction subcontractors and suppliers by December 3 for approval by Yueneng Chemical, and work closely with the construction units to ensure smooth coordination and overcome difficulties such as winter construction, so as to keep the project on schedule. It is understood that once the coal slurry concentration demonstration unit is built, the concentration of the coal slurry will increase by 3 percentage points compared to the current level; meanwhile, oxygen consumption and coal consumption during the gasification process will decrease by approximately 5% and 3% respectively, resulting in significant economic benefits.

To date, there are only two known technologies for coal slurry concentration: one is the Sanfeng pulping process technology developed by China National Coal Technology & Engineering Group Clean Energy Company, and the other is the concentration technology from the Water-Coal Slurry Engineering Technology Center. Now a new technology from the Northwest Research Institute has emerged; we look forward to seeing reports on its operation once it is put into use next year.
