Methanol is a suitable substance for transportation by rail. \"At present, methanol produced in the northwest region needs to be transported to the Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas, with part of this transport being carried out by rail. However, the capacity of rail transport is limited, which makes it difficult for manufacturers to control the timing and volume of transportation; therefore, rail transport is not the primary method for moving methanol in China.\" Most of the methanol produced in the northwestern region needs to be transported by road to ports in the Bohai Sea area such as Tianjin Port, Tangshan Port, Qinhuangdao Port, or Rizhao Lanshan Port in Shandong Province, and from there it is shipped by sea to port areas in southern Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Since the severe methanol truck explosion in Shanxi at the beginning of 2014, various regions have successively introduced a series of regulations restricting the transportation of hazardous chemicals, making road transport of methanol even more difficult. Fortunately, the two major railway lines, the Longhai Line and the Lanzhou-Xinjiang Line, with a total length of 4,159 kilometers, have been fully electrified. The railway transportation capacity for methanol produced in the northwest region to the port areas in the east is increasing significantly, which will help alleviate the challenges associated with methanol transportation in China. ”
