Construction begins on 2.6-billion-yuan coal chemical project in Baotou, Inner Mongolia / Author/Source: Huahua Network Coal Chemicals Date: 18-01-2018 Clicks: 17 On January 17, the groundbreaking ceremony for the fatty alcohol co-production project of Jiu Yi Energy and Chemicals Co., Ltd. in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, was held at the site of this project in the Shangejia Chemical Industrial Park, which is part of the new industrial park in Tuyou Banner. The Feichun co-production project of Jiuyi Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd., which is now under construction, has a total investment of 2.648 billion yuan. It uses coal as the main raw material to produce fine chemical products such as compacted coke, urea, and methanol, thereby creating a circular economic industry chain that includes coal washing, coking, and coal-based multi-product production. The project will be constructed in three phases; phase one requires an investment of 1.25 billion yuan to build a coking plant with an annual capacity of 960,000 tons, which is set to be completed and put into operation by the end of the year ; The second-phase investment amounts to 948 million yuan, intended for the construction of a urea and synthetic ammonia plant with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons ; A third-phase investment of 450 million yuan will be made to build a benzene hydrogenation plant with an annual capacity of 150,000 tons. The Tuyou New Industrial Park in Inner Mongolia aims to become a demonstration base for modern coal chemical industry and a hub for innovation in new materials. In 2017, efforts were made to ensure that over 80% of the investment required for Guoneng’s 600,000-ton per year coal-to-ethylene glycol production project and United Energy’s 40,000-ton per year coal chemical equipment manufacturing project was completed by the end of that year, with production starting up in 2018. The β-aminopropionic acid project of Zhonghao Fine Chemicals has been completed and put into operation. Accelerate the planning and development of coal-based solid waste recycling industrial parks as well as the introduction of relevant projects, and promote the commencement of projects such as Hengchang Chemical’s 10,000-ton furfural production facility, Zhengtang Environmental Protection’s 200,000-cubic-meter solid waste utilization project, and Tianhe Yunrui’s comprehensive utilization of coal gangue. The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size in the entire region reached 17.64 billion yuan, an increase of 9.5%.
