On February 28, 2018, Shanxi Coking Coal Group Feihong Chemical Co., Ltd. and Shanxi Jinhuan Keyuan Environmental Resources Technology Co., Ltd. held discussions regarding the preparation of the environmental impact assessment report for the 1 million tons per year coal-to-methanol project, and an agreement was reached between the two parties. At the beginning of March, Shanxi Jinhuankeyuan Environmental Resources Technology Co., Ltd. arrived at the site to begin collecting data on air and groundwater quality, marking the full launch of the environmental impact assessment for the 1 million tons per year coal-to-methanol project. The 1 million tons per year coal-to-methanol production facility of Shanxi Coking Coal Group Feihong Chemical Co., Ltd. serves as a complementary component to the comprehensive renovation project for converting coking gas into methanol at a rate of 1 million tons per year; it is an important measure to ensure the supply of raw materials for the 600,000 tons per year olefins production project. On October 20, 2017, Shanxi Coking Coal Feihong Chemical held a review meeting for the technical plan of the 1 million tons per year coal-to-methanol project. On July 8, 2017, Shanjiao Feihong Chemical held a review meeting for the feasibility study report of the 1 million tons per year coal-to-methanol project. The feasibility study report was prepared by China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd. Feihong Chemical Co., Ltd. of Shanxi Coking Coal Group was established with the approval of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shanxi Province, through joint investment by Shanxi Coking Co., Ltd. and Shanxi Coking Coal Transportation and Energy Investment Co., Ltd., in a shareholding ratio of 51% and 49% respectively. It is responsible for the construction of the 600,000 tons per year olefins project, the 1 million tons per year methanol production project using coke oven gas, and the 1 million tons per year coal-based methanol project, as well as for the future production and operation management. Shanjiao Feihong was established in 2013. The company has eleven functional departments and four project departments: the General Office, Human Resources Department, Discipline Inspection and Supervision Department, Planning and Costing Department, Finance Department, Project Management Department, Technology and Process Department, Equipment and Power Department, Quality, Safety and Environment Department, Business and Procurement Department, Production Preparation Department, as well as the MTO Project Department, Polyolefins Project Department, Public Auxiliary Systems Project Department, and Thermal Power Project Department.
