Progress in the Installation of Purification Equipment for Zhong’an United’s 1.7 million tons/year coal-to-olefins project / Author/Source: Huahua Network Coal Chemicals / Date: 2018-06-06 / Clicks: 104 On June 4, the last oversized tower-type equipment to be installed in the purification section of Zhong’an United Coal Chemicals Co., Ltd.’s 1.7 million tons/year coal-to-methanol and olefins production project – the thermal regeneration tower – was successfully hoisted into place. With this, all 10 oversized tower-type devices in the purification area have now been installed. The purification unit is a key component of the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Project. Since March 17, when the first tower-type equipment in this unit—the shift gas absorption tower—was successfully hoisted into place, Sinopec Nanjing Engineering Company has completed the hoisting of 10 other tower-type devices of oversized dimensions. All of these installations were carried out using modular construction methods; prior to hoisting, tasks such as the installation of pipelines connected to the towers, as well as work related to labor protection, insulation, and electrical lighting, were completed, ensuring that the lights were operational once the towers were in place. Everything was done in accordance with the scheduled hoisting milestones. The maximum overall lifting weight for 10 towers is 730 tons, the minimum is 130 tons, and the height of the equipment reaches 91.1 meters. The lifting and installation of these 10 oversized tower-type devices present significant challenges, with complex construction procedures and high quality requirements, posing a test to Nanjing Engineering Company’s comprehensive organizational capabilities and management skills. To ensure the successful completion of each task, Nanjing Engineering Company made full use of its EPC integrated management capabilities, working closely with all parties involved in the project to plan meticulously and arrange things carefully. After several months of hard work, the task was finally completed successfully. The 1.7 million tons per year coal-to-methanol and converted olefins project of Zhongan United Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. is a key construction project of Sinopec and Anhui Province. The core process of the project utilizes S-MTO patented technology owned by Sinopec, while the gasification unit employs SE-Dongfang furnace technology also owned by Sinopec. Using coal from the Zhujixi mine as raw material, methanol and converted olefins (LDPE/PP), ethylene glycol (MEG) and other products are produced. Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. is responsible for the overall management of the design, procurement, and construction of the MTO/OCC and PP units in this project, as well as six supporting facilities including the control room and 110-kilovolt substation ； Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. is responsible for the design and construction of the gasification unit for the contracted project. The project’s goal is to light the boiler on August 30, 2018, and to complete the construction of CCCC by the end of the year. Zhongan United Coal & Chemical Co., Ltd. was established on December 18, 2010, with a registered capital of 4 billion yuan. It is funded equally at 50% each by Sinopec Corporation and Anhui Wanbei Coal and Electricity Group Co., Ltd. On December 7, 2016, a preparatory meeting was held for the resumption of work on the Zhong’an Coal Chemical Project to arrange the preparations for restarting operations. In January 2017, a meeting on resuming work on the Zhong’an project was held in Huainan. The project headquarters issued the \"Notice on Resuming Construction of the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Project\" (Petrochemical Shares Construction and Refining [2017] No. 6), announcing that work on the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Project would officially resume.

On June 7, testing began on the first motor of the circulating water pump in Zhongan United’s third circulating water plant, marking the start of comprehensive individual testing of the equipment in that plant. At the testing site, after confirming the pre-testing conditions, at 3 p.m. sharp, the construction workers pressed the start button for motor 5132P04b on time. After 2 hours of operation, all parameters such as trial operation current, vibration, and temperature were completely normal; the motor passed the trial operation successfully! On that day, the pump motor of 5132P04a was also successfully tested. The successful trial operation of the motor for the third circulation pump 5132P04b marks the successful individual testing of Zhongan United’s first high-pressure motor. The third circulating water plant, which provides circulating cooling water services for thermoelectric, air separation, air compression units, and refrigeration stations, is equipped with 18 fans and 14 circulating water pumps; individual tests for various types of equipment will begin one after another.
