Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group Co., Ltd. recently invited domestic patent holders of coal-to-aromatics technology as well as relevant design institutes to the company for technical exchanges. Building on the outcomes of these discussions, Yueneng Group prepared the \"Practical Plan for Yueneng Group to Develop High-End Coal Chemical Industry in Yulin\" and submitted it to the municipal Party committee and government, thus establishing a preliminary work plan for advancing coal-to-aromatics projects. Next, Yueneng Group will conduct further evaluations of the technical approach, product options, and production scale for the coal-based aromatics project, aiming to complete the feasibility study for the project by the end of the year and initiate the preliminary work. On the afternoon of September 6, Yueneng Group invited Tsinghua University, Huadian Coal Industry Group Co., Ltd., East China Design Institute, and Tianchen Design Institute to discuss the FMTA process technology for coal-based aromatics. Song Yuqi, Executive Director and General Manager, was absent from the meeting; Huang Ye, Deputy Chief Engineer of Yueneng Group, presided over it. At the meeting, Tsinghua University and Huadian Coal Industry Group presented information on the progress and prospects of FMTA technology. The participants had in-depth discussions regarding the feasibility and scale of coal-to-aromatics projects carried out by Yueneng Group. On the morning of September 13, Yueneng Group invited the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Northeast Petrochemical Design Institute to exchange views on coal-based aromatic compounds and technologies for producing needle coke from coal tar. The meeting was chaired by Huang Ye, the deputy chief engineer of Yueneng Group Company, with relevant departments in attendance. At the meeting, the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics presented the technology for the methylation of coal-derived aromatics, while the Northeast Refining and Chemical Engineering Institute discussed the technology for producing needle coke from coal tar. They also exchanged views on the feasibility and preliminary plans for the group to undertake projects related to coal-derived aromatics and needle coke. As Shaanxi’s third-largest provincial-owned coal giant, Yueneng Group is a local state-owned enterprise that began its operations in coal production and sales. In recent years, it has actively engaged in the advanced transformation of coal, and has become an important force within Shaanxi’s coal transformation industry cluster. It is reported that Shaanxi plans to use Yueneng Group as the core, and leveraging the two existing Yushen and Yuheng industrial development zones, to establish fine chemical parks covering 10 square kilometers each. Special resources will be allocated to these parks, and the group will take on the initial technical and market risks in order to develop coal-based fine chemical products of international standard. This approach aims to encourage enterprises to develop across the entire coal chemical industry chain, thereby creating a clustering effect.
