Our company’s ethylene glycol production facility has a capacity of 1.8 million tons. For the low-temperature methanol washing process, propylene is used as a refrigerant. There is one 1,000 m3 propylene tank in the storage area; I think at least two tanks should be installed. Could you please let me know how many tanks there are in your plant and what their capacities are?
Let’s first talk about why you think one is not enough and two need to be designed
First, for the regular inspection of pressure vessels, it is necessary to open the vessels for a thorough inspection, which results in a suspension of feed to the downstream equipment; this hinders the continuous production of the enterprise. It is necessary to wait until a plant-wide maintenance period arrives, and such inspections take around 30 days, so the timing may not be suitable； Secondly, there are no spare tanks, and transferring the material during maintenance is also a problem; it can only be vented through a flare, resulting in waste. Third, temporary repairs, such as opening the tank to service the level gauge, can only be carried out during major overhauls; operating the equipment with defects poses safety risks
