On December 19, the site for the first phase of a project to produce 200,000 tons of green methanol per year was successfully acquired through a joint investment by Fornuo Energy Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Fornuo Energy”) and Hong Kong China Gas Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as “China Gas”). This project is located in the Foshan (Sanshui) New Materials Industrial Park, which is part of the core development area of the Fobei Strategic Emerging Industries Park – one of the seven major industrial clusters in the province. In terms of project scale, the production base for green methanol with an annual output of 200,000 tons (Phase I) that is being planned and constructed will directly contribute to the creation of more job opportunities in Datang Town as well as to the coordinated development of industries along the supply chain, thereby injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the local economy. In terms of production technology, the project utilizes advanced biomass gasification technology. Using agricultural and forestry waste such as sugarcane bagasse and wood processing residues as raw materials, it efficiently converts these into green methanol through four key processes: raw material supply, biomass gasification, syngas pretreatment, and methanol synthesis. This process not only enables the resource utilization of agricultural and forestry waste, but also results in significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions throughout the product’s life cycle compared to traditional fossil-based methanol, thus fully meeting the requirements of the \"dual carbon\" goals. It is worth noting that the technical approach adopted in this project is consistent with those used in China Gas’ established projects in Inner Mongolia. By leveraging its industry-leading proprietary gasification technology, it is expected to be able to integrate smoothly into the global green fuel supply chain in the future. At the same time, Furen Energy’s advantages in petrochemical storage, port resources, and the energy chemicals supply chain in the Pearl River Delta will enable the project’s products to be quickly distributed across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as well as overseas markets, providing stable fuel supplies for methanol-powered ships owned by domestic and international shipowners. Inner Mongolia Yigao Coal Chemical Technology Co., Ltd., a joint venture controlled by Furen Energy and China Gas, has achieved large-scale production of green methanol through proprietary gasification technologies. It has obtained the EU ISCCEU and ISCC PLUS international certifications for four consecutive years, providing a mature technical basis and operational experience for new projects.
