Recently, Shanghai Electric Power Station Group won the bid for Bid 1 of the EPC project for the 100,000 tons per year biomass green methanol project (Phase I) in Lanzhou New Area, and will provide it with key technologies, core equipment, as well as EPC turnkey services. Previously, Shanghai Electric had successfully demonstrated its independently developed full-industry-chain technology system for \"producing green alcohol through the coupling of green electricity and biomass gasification\" in the Jilin Taonan green methanol integrated demonstration project. Won the bid this time. This marks the official entry of this technological system into the stage of large-scale replication, further demonstrating Shanghai Electric’s advantages in terms of a complete technical ecosystem in the field of green fuels as well as its comprehensive service capabilities. The project that has won this bid is located in the Chemical Industry Park of Lanzhou New Area, and it is the first project in Gansu Province to produce green methanol through biomass gasification. Once completed, the project will enable the efficient conversion of agricultural and forestry waste such as corn straw into green methanol, effectively addressing the issue of waste management in these regions. It will provide crucial support for establishing a circular economy system based on biomass resources, green energy, and green chemicals, thereby contributing to the region’s green and low-carbon development as well as the optimization of its industrial structure. In recent years, Shanghai Electric has been committed to the research and development as well as continuous improvement of core technologies related to green fuels. It has now developed a comprehensive technology portfolio that covers “new energy power generation – hydrogen production through water electrolysis – biomass gasification – methanol synthesis – carbon capture.” This portfolio offers advantages such as wide adaptability to different raw materials, competitive energy consumption levels, and controllable investment costs, enabling the company to provide one-stop, customized system solutions to clients both domestically and internationally.
