:) Our company deals in coatings; the factory only has electricians who are familiar with routine maintenance. However, when it’s necessary to add new equipment, even if it’s just a small unit, we have to hire an external engineering company to design the electrical circuit for it. It involves cable selection, wiring, and circuit design. The equipment in the factory includes reaction vessels (with frequency converters), circulating water systems, boilers, centrifugal pumps (some with frequency converters), diaphragm pumps, vacuum pumps, etc. There are also some standalone devices such as grinders and dispersers (with frequency converters). I study mechanical engineering; in school I only learned electrical engineering. The factory has distribution rooms with transformers, as well as PLC-based automation systems (but I’m worried I might not be able to master these, especially PLC). I just want to learn about the electrical aspects related to everyday equipment such as reaction vessels, centrifugal pumps, and dispersers. How should I approach learning this systematically? If it’s simple electrical wiring, it should be easy to learn; but on a larger scale, the electrical engineering field is by no means simpler than PLCs. Besides, having professional companies design the equipment does have its advantages – you earn money based on the responsibilities you take on; if the design is done carelessly, any problems that arise will only result in losses. With self-study, basic maintenance is sufficient. If you want to delve deeper into it, you still need to study systematically*; getting some form of on-the-job training would be good too.
It is recommended to ask professionals in the electrical field for advice to see if they can come up with a good idea. . . .

If learning on your own, you can use university textbooks on power supply and distribution, manuals for industrial and civil power supply and distribution design, relevant **standards**, as well as selection guides provided by component manufacturers; meanwhile, study by referring to electrical diagrams from previous projects.
