High-voltage circuit breakers, high-voltage load switches, and high-voltage fuses can interrupt normal load current as well as short-circuit fault current, although their ability to interrupt short-circuit current varies; In principle, it functions in the same way as a low-voltage air switch (commonly known as a circuit breaker).
