Where can I find the MESG and MICR values for the explosion protection rating of motors?
MESG, the maximum safety gap (explosion-proof), and MICR, the minimum ignition current ratio (intrinsic safety), are parameters related to flammable gases; they are used to determine whether such gases fall into category A, B, or C. Motors are generally of the explosion-proof type. If the MESG value for a flammable gas is 0.9 mm or greater, then a IIA category is sufficient; if it is between 0.5 mm and 0.9 mm, a IIB category is appropriate; whereas if the MESG value is 0.5 mm or less, a IIC category is required
Why do you want to check this data? I think it’s used by motor manufacturers; it doesn’t hold much significance for us users

I have the same question: for some electrical components, it’s not possible to determine their appropriate rating levels. I consulted electrical specialists, who said that it should be decided by the process engineers; if that isn’t possible, then design them according to the highest IIC rating. However, this results in excessively high costs, and the client refuses to accept it, demanding that there be a basis for determining the IIC rating. No MESG values or MICR values can be found anywhere on the internet either.
